I allowed my brother and sister in law and their 5 kids to live in my house in 12/10. After a period of time I started having insect bites. In 3/11 when they moved out I discovered all of their belongings COVERED in bugs that turned out to be bed bugs. I panicked and ripped up all the carpeting from my house. I called terminix and they sent a tech out to my house the first part of April.

The tech assured me that they handle things like this all the time and usually one treatment is all you need. They had me bag up everything that could be laundered and wash it at the laundry mat. They asked me to take my pictures off the wall and stated they would treat them too. My first visit lasted only 2 hrs (I have a 1500 sq ft home). I left my debit card information with the man and told him that I would need to pull the money from my savings account and he stated "that's fine we can call before we charge it"

Within two weeks I was having bed bug bites again and was SEEING the actual bugs. I called back and they sent a DIFFERENT rep out. He came in and treated one room! Within ONE week we were having the same issues again. It took them a week to come out and spray. Still at this time (mid April) my account had never been charged. I bought new furniture and threw away a lot of belongings thinking that it might help the problem. The guy came back and just kept repeating "I don't see any evidence of them...but I guess I can treat anyway" he treated a total of 5 rooms in less than 5 minutes.

We lived in peace for approximately two weeks and started having bites again. My husband said we should wait to call because they told us they applied "birth control" and maybe this was just the last of the bugs before they died and because terminix told us that it took 7-14 days for bed bug bites to appear on a person. After a week I called the company and was told that since my account was never paid they couldn't help me. I told them my account was never charged and they said I would have to speak to a manager who would call me back. Within the hour the manager called me back and told me that if he was the one who hadn't paid his bill, he wouldn't be calling the company to come fix the problem. He was VERY VERY rude and I was in tears by the end of the phone conversation. He stated that if I paid in full in cash they would come treat my house again and I agreed. I just want the bed bugs gone.

They came out to the house and this time the manager came along. They "inspected" my house and still didn't find any evidence of bed bugs. I asked them are the bites not enough evidence? And they replied "you must be bringing them from somewhere else, we have treated and treated this house". I insisted that they treat the house again regardless because that was our agreement. They spent maybe 30 mins treating and left--paid in FULL and in CASH (minus the $200 discount he took off for making me cry) and once again me in tears. I was just happy they were gone.

In the following week I noticed the kids had bed bug bites. I called terminix and was told I'd have to speak to the manager, who would call me back. When I received the phone call they informed me that the manager had decided to cancel my contract for lack of bed bug evidence and they would not be returning to treat my house again although I would be issued a refund.

I still have bed bugs! I found two crawling around in my bathroom LAST NIGHT!!! If I was as hateful as the guys I had to deal with, I'd put those bugs in an envelope and send them to them! I hired this company to take care of the bed bugs and instead I received the run around and was treated like ***!

Never use a company that you have NOT reviewed online first. There are thousands of complaints online about Terminix.

Stay local. They care a lot more and you don't have to jump through hoops to get to the top.

Terminix has a nasty habit of using people then throwing them away and then...onto the next new employee.

Your first mistake was hiring Terminix, but you most likely know that now...Not to pour salt in your wounds, but obviously they don't know what the *** they are doing! They go through employees on a regular basis!

You most likely have a tech with little or NO training and/or so little training that they have NO experience with bedbugs. You are lucky if you have the same person twice! Bedbugs are VERY detailed work! Did the tech even have the proper tools to do the work?

Most likely your answer is "NO" as well. The only people that Terminix sends to so called "training classes" are the managers and NOT the techs out in the field doing all the work! It can and often does take more than a year of monthly service to completely wipe out a bedbug problem. One service for Bedbugs is NOT going to work!

Them telling you that one treatment will kill the bedbugs measures a 12 on the BS meter of 1-10. Were they even using an "IGR"? That is an 'Insect Growth Regulator' added to whatever they claimed to be spraying? Even then, there may be eggs somewhere in your home.

Did they even bother to take your bed frames apart and treat those? What about wall voids? How about the switchplates (ALL OF THEM IN HOME) and what about the seams and corners of the beds? What about the nightstands, dressers, cabinets, and behind your headboards, what about under and in the base of any wall lamps and/or end tables?

Did they even bother to take any cushions off your sofa and actually look for these bugs? I am thinking that they sprayed the baseboards and left? My guess is that they most likely didn't do ***! The reason your so called treatment didn't work is because they failed to do any 'crack and crevice' work, or very little at best?

Did they even bother to pull out the nightstand drawers and treat UNDER them? Did they even do ANY follow up service right after your so called one time service? You need to go local, and then sue Terminix in civil court for your money back.

Sue them also for paying a local guy to do a minimum of one year service! Yoiu need to stand up to that greedy company!

these guys are paid by commision 20 to 25 percent depending on tenure oh yeah some guys there only couple weeks heaven forbid you get him!good bed bug tratment should take 5to6 hrs depending on infestation? he knows the faster he gets out of your house more money he makes, not his fault 40 bucks for 5 hrs does not pay his bills, these guys get burned out fast, and usally last about 3 yrs.

by the time they learn the trade they are gone, most of them end up with smaller cos.

where they flourish! and are actuaaly given the time and support they need in this very demanding job be cautious in your decision do your homework talk to locals and you will get a education and the truth about the pest control industry good luck!

Hello, I just read your post on bedbugs and Terminex. I have a neighbor who used Terminex to get rid of the vermin.

She said they are gone. I say wait and see, sInce I have heard it takes more than one visit or two. My problem is getting a rep out to do an inspection, so I will consider someone else. I don't think they can migrate to this side of the building, but my assumptions are usually wrong.

I don't need the nightmare. Did you find anyone else to fix your problem?

Stay with a local pest control company. These big nameless and faceless companies go through so many people, and they DO NOT care about their shoddy business practices. They also have a nasty habit of ruining good people both employees and customers. That is why the "ServiceMaster" network of companies actually stands for "Service THE Master"

was recently "let go" from Terminix simply because I didn't sell enough. My customers loved me, never rec'd any complaints, always completed my route 95% or greater, and collected well each month. But because I didn't sell 2-3000$ worth of overpriced and oftentimes totally unnecessary products and/or services every month they had to let me go. While I did in fact sell (usually at least 500 -****$/month but sometimes well over the 2000$/month "goal"), my numbers apparently weren't good enough. Trust me, you are far better off with a locally owned pest company that doesn't offer all the other products/services and force their service techs to sell. Or better yet, go to doityourselfpestcontrol.com and you can get the exact same products that I used as a tech.

Do the math: On average, the yearly cost for pest control with Terminix is $300.00 (75$ every 3 months). Go to doit yourselfpestcontrol.com and spend 50-100$ and you will have enough product to last you 2 - 3 years.

terminix pest control for 3 years =$900.00

doityourselfpestcontrol.com for 3 years = $50-100.00

And if you do go with Terminix, pray that your service tech (pmp) actually gives enough of a rat's *** to provide a good service, because believe me, plenty of them do not. Just a little information and common sense is all anyone needs to take care of their pest problem. There are plenty of avenues one can use to gain necessary info to treat their home correctly, without having to pay dearly.

Obviously I'm not happy with the way I was let go, but the above points reflect the way I've felt for quite some time. I was with the company over two years, and I developed a lot of good relationships with many of my customers. I can honestly say that I treated my customers the way I would expect to be treated, and tried to treat their homes like each was my own. In the two + years I was there, I did see a lot of questionable ethics. And nearly all of these situations revolved around money. Sell, Sell, Sell!! was the mantra.

Do yourself a favor, think twice about dealing with the big companies. Like every other large corporation, it's all about the almighty dollar.
